The Viking Yurt
The
spectacular evening begins with a snowcat-drawn sleigh ride up to the aspens and pines. The valley lights below and the stars
above provide stunning views as you ascend 1000 vertical feet from the base of The Canyons. Most evenings the sleigh delivers
you directly to the yurt. On specific evenings, (generally Monday, Wednesday and Sunday), the sleigh drops you off at the
Red Pine Lodge. There you are equipped with snowshoes or nordic skis. Work up an appetite while following your guide through
a pristine, winter wonderland. The terrain is gentle and headlamps are provided when the moonlight isn't sufficient. Norwegian
hospitality embraces you inside the yurt as you are greeted with hot, spiced "glogg" served in a pewter mug. Live
piano music from the baby grand compliments the evening's atmosphere. The exciting sleigh ride and the magic of the mountains,
combined with incredible gourmet dining inside the cozy Viking Yurt, is an experience unmatched anywhere in the world. Western BBQ
For a western adventure you won't forget, ride the Flight of The Canyons gondola
to the Red Pine Lodge for our Western Barbecue. Our chefs prepare a buffet with menu items including salad bar, BBQ chicken,
slow-cooked Prime Rib and other barbecue specialties, plus all the fixings like a dessert buffet. Enjoy live country-western
music while you enjoy a high-altitude darn good dining experience. Western BBQ's are every Saturday night except Christmas
night. Space is limited and reservations are required. Olympic Park
The only bobsled track in North America that offers rides to the public starting from the
competition starting point (tracks in Lake Placid and Canada allow the public to start from a lower point on the track). This
means you, your two closest friends (and when we say close, we mean close) and your driver will reach speeds of 80 mph. After
your ride, take a tour of the Alf Engen Musueum to learn all about historic winter sports such as bobsled, luge, skeleton
and ski jumping. You might also see athletes training on the ski jumps as this is an active training site for all of the above
sports.
